CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF BLACK EXCELLENCE FROM NSBE AT NC STATE
To increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.
We envision a world in which engineering is a mainstream word in homes and communities of color, and all Black students can envision themselves as engineers. In this world, Black people exceed parity in entering engineering fields, earning degrees, and succeeding professionally.
The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) was founded in 1975 by concerned African-American college students, known as the "Chicago Six," at Purdue University. Since then, it has grown to become the largest student-managed organization in the United States, with over 31,000 members worldwide. NSBE is committed to stimulating student interest in engineering, increasing minority representation in the field, promoting advanced degrees and professional engineering registrations, raising public awareness, and advocating for Black engineers' careers.
